Here at VSS there are many clubs to join that can spark our student's interests! Check out the below list and make sure to stop in to as many as you can!
INTRAMURALS
When: Lunch - Listen for announcements and watch the TV's
Where: West Gym
What:
Awesome way to work out that energy before last class
Look at the Intramural Board and listen to the announcements each morning for the upcoming events!
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
When:
Grade 10-12's Tuesday @ Lunch
Grade 8/9's Thursdays @ Lunch
Where: Library
What:
Everyone is welcome to join us for lunch where we have a lot of laughs and sometimes get around to talking about the books on the list.
No one has to read all of the books, but it's nice if they read at least one.
High School Battle of the Books is quite different from the Elementary one: way more fun,
far more creative, and a little less competitive... but still a good spark to keep a student going!
VIP CLUB - THE VALLEYVIEW INCLUSIVITY PROGRAM
When: Wednesday's @ Lunch

What:
Have you ever felt out of place, witnessed or experienced inequality at our school and wanted to meet some dynamic and exciting people?
The Valleyview Inclusivity Club run by Mrs. Yamaoka promotes positive change in our school.
The VIP Club promotes a school culture that is meaningful, inclusive and sustainable while fostering respect and belonging for all students.
Through running fun activities school-wide, weekly meetings and engaging conversations the VIP Club is dedicated to creating
positive change and furthering a culture of inclusivity at Valleyview.
It’s a great place to make new friends. Hope to see you there!
ENVIRONMENT STRIKES BACK
When: Fridays @ Lunch

What:
We would LOVE to have more students join us as we work on bigger projects like lobbying the City to improve bussing,
running events like the Clothing Swap, and educating the school through things like announcements and our bulletin board.
This is a place where everyone is welcome! And where everyone has a chance to create change together!
EMPOWER HER ART PROGRAM
When: Tuesdays @ 3:00 PM
Where: Room 135
What:
The aim is to help teenage girls express themselves and their emotions through the
healthy and beautiful engagement that is art.
Each week young ladies get to come together to make new friends and learn new skills.
EMPOWER HER GYM
When: Tuesdays @ 3:00 PM
Where: East Gym - Studio
What:
The aim is to help teenage girls be physically active throughout their lives, creating unforgettable experiences for them,
and building a community of inspirational, committed individuals.
Each week students participate in physical activities decided upon by the group.
From time to time, students will be bussed to and from local gyms, fitness studios, and/or city facilities.
The rationale behind these field trips is to expose students to a variety of activities and to hopefully connect them to an activity of interest.
CHESS CLUB
When: Wednesdays @ Lunch
Where: Room 134- Mr. Haffenden's Class
What:
There is a tournament running with at least 21 players but drop ins and casual games are possible too.
We even have 3-player chess!! Bring your lunch, meet new people and enjoy a game to wring out the brain!
GSA HANGOUT
When: Thursdays @ Lunch
Where: Room 135
What:
The GSA is a group which celebrates and brings awareness to diversity of sexuality orientation and gender identity.
Anyone is welcome at the Wednesday hangouts and students who are involved in planning events and club activities meet on Thursday.
They frequently raise money through bake sales and plan the VSS Carnival.
DEBATE CLUB
When: Thursday @ Lunch

What:
A place to politely argue - just kidding! But in all seriousness this club is working hard to participate in
city finals this November and would love to see even more new members - no experience necessary!
BOYS CLUB NETWORK
When: Tuesdays @ Lunch
Where: Room 212 - Mr. Hansen's Class
What:
The Boys Club Network (‘BCN’ or the ‘Network’) is a privately-funded registered Canadian charity
(Westcoast Boys Club Network Foundation) founded and operated by a committed team of BC secondary school administrators,
teachers, counsellors, youth and wellness workers; funded by a small group of visionary Canadian philanthropist entrepreneurs, and supported
by a Network of +200 mentors from all walks of life.
All of our programs and services are based on the foundational principles of mentorship and connection,
as tools for teaching, healing and prevention.
We are working with 12 BC School districts currently (three coming online), and have engaged and mentored thousands of boys.
DRONE R/C CLUB
When: Wednesdays @ Lunch
Where: Room 203 - Mr. Paravantes' Class
What:
Practice flying helicopters, planes and drones on our simulator and operate professional grade radios.
Learn to calibrate RC transmitters.
Students are welcome to bring in their own machines.
Inclined students can learn about building and repairing RC devices and have opportunities to fly our helicopter and drone.
REPAIR CAFE
When: First Tuesday of every Month @ Lunch
Where: Room 203 - Mr. Paravantes' Class
What:
Students have the opportunity to take things apart and see "what makes them tick".
From Roombas, to blenders, to VCRs - if it's mechanical and not working well (or at all!),
bring it in and let's see if we can get it going again!
You can even break down E-waste and save the useable parts to make Junk-Bots!
No computers please.
YARN LOOOPS (KNITTING CLUB)
When: Wednesday @ Lunch
Where: 113B - Outside the Library
What:
Learn a fun, relaxing and creative skill while making something cozy.
All levels of knitting and crochet experience welcome!
Bring a project if you have one, and if you're new to the art, try it and learn how to pick supplies.
YEARBOOK CLUB
When: Tuesdays @ Lunch
Where: Room 153 - Mr. Christian's Class
What:
Help create the main souvenir of the year!
ROBLOX DEVELOPER
When: Thursdays @ Lunch

Learn about coding, building and team playing games!

3D PRINTING CLUB

Got a broken drone part, or broken computer hinge?
Maybe you want to learn about 3D modeling in Blender and print to our
3D printers for that cool Volcano project in Science?
We've got your back!!

DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS CLUB
When: Daily @ Lunch
Where: Room 160- Mr. Roger Turner's Class

Come and talk about the worlds and excitement and gain bits of advice or
just actively listen to each other's stories as they are created!
Newcomers are always welcome and be patient as it may take a bit to get worked into one of the existing groups but well worth the wait!
CHEERLEADING
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 - 5
