Graduation Archives

I would first like to congratulate the class of 2020, and make sure I say just how proud I am of your accomplishments. Collectively, you have demonstrated your commitment to working hard and doing well academically. As you move into the next adventures of your life, make sure to surround yourself with people who have a vested interest in your happiness. For some of you this will be your parents, for others, your grandparents, relatives, or close friends. They will help you through life’s challenges and tell you they believe in you and your ability to keep moving forward. I wish all of you the very best in your next adventures and congratulate all of you on a job well done!

Valleyview Secondary Class of 2020 Valedictorian Sydney Krueger

My school experience has been a long, strange and fun journey. From my first day of kindergarten to my last day of online school, there have been so many things that made me who I am today. My education has been an invaluable experience, without it I can’t even imagine who I would be.

If I were to choose a moment of inspiration, it would be from my first grade teacher.  My first grade teacher Mrs. Krueger, who is also my grandma, taught me how to count to 100 and how to read and write, but watching how much she loved her job is what has inspired my career choice.

On that note, I want to become a teacher! I plan to go to TRU in the fall to begin my post-secondary education, and after graduating go to UBC Okanagan to get my teaching degree.

For my fellow grads, remember to be excited for your future. Even if you have no plan, no money, no clue what on Earth you want to do, don’t worry too much. The next few years of your life are some of the best for making mistakes and creating memories. Move across the country, change your mind about your major, rent an apartment you can just barely afford, do anything and be anything who you want to be. As long as you feel you’re doing what is right, your future will be one you love.

“It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”
