Hockey Skills Academy
Hockey Academy is primarily a catchment school program, however, if there is space in both the Hockey Academy and the educational programming at Valleyview Secondary, we do accept out of catchment transfers on a first come, first serve basis.
Valleyview Catchment Students (including Grade 7's entering Grade 8) will select Hockey Academy in the Physical and Health Education section on their course selection forms during regularly scheduled course selection periods. This is typically done in February for current Valleyview students. For our incoming Grade 7's our school counsellors will be visiting our catchment schools in March and they will be able to select Hockey Academy on their course selection forms. Our catchment schools are Ralph Bell, Juniper Ridge, RLC, Marion Schilling, Dallas Elementarys and Sk'elep School of Excellence.
At this point in time, all students in VSS catchment who select Hockey Academy will be enrolled in Hockey Academy.
If you are moving into catchment after our initial course selection process (after April 1), proof of address is required to register at Valleyview Secondary and enrolment in Hockey Academy will be based on available spaces. Students requesting Hockey Academy after April 1, may be placed on a waitlist. The waitlist is reviewed on an ongoing basis.
For Out of Catchment Students who wish to apply to transfer to Valleyview Secondary for the Hockey Academy, parents must complete an Application for Student Transfer to Another School , as per AP305 - Administrative Procedure 305 School Boundaries and Student Transfer Requests and indicate in the "Reason" section that it is to attend the Hockey Academy. These will not be accepted until March 1 of the current school year. Transfer requests will be added to our waitlist in order of submission and will be considered in August/September of the school year. This means that your child should complete their course selections at their catchment school and attend their catchment in September while you wait to hear from us.
